III Regional Compatriots’ Conference in Mexico

May 28th, 2009 the ordinary meeting of the Executive committee of the Compatriots’ in Mexico Coordination Council (SORUMEX) took place in the Embassy of Russia.

One of the main questions on the agenda was the adoption of new dates for the III Regional Compatriots’ Conference that was postponed due to the influence epidemic in the country. The event will be held October 15-18th, 2009.

During the meeting the member of the Executive Committee Mrs.Vasilkova informed about the work on the “Compatriots in Mexico” book, its full-scale idea was discussed.

Moreover the aspects of the SORUMEX Internet-site creation were examined. The members that are responsible for this project told about the main site sections and demonstrated its pilot version.

The participants of the meeting discussed some current issues connected with the self financing of the SORUMEX activities.

Dear delegates!

Cooperation with Russian Diaspora, support and protection of compatriot’s rights is one the most important priorities of the Russian Federation.
The more successful, more powerful becomes our country, the closer become our contacts with our Diaspora abroad and the more powerful and influential the voice of our compatriots abroad.
Nowadays it’s possible to establish the fact that the trend to the unity of our Diaspora is rapidly growing power. Coordination Counsel established according the decision of World Compatriots Congress serves as a mouthpiece of Russian Diaspora abroad. The Coordination Counsel showed itself like an official body which could represent the interests of all “Russian world” abroad. Meetings with the President of Russian Federation and events dedicated to the Day of Peoples Unity became a good tradition.
Preserving and strengthening of Russian language and culture positions remain very important work directions. Deep concerns for our language is a pledge of success of our efforts on protection of Russian compatriots rights abroad, and in more wide sense is preserving culture originality and self identification of Russian people.
Regional conference will be a very important stage in preparation of World Conference, 2009. During plenary sessions and thematic sections will be discussed the process of carrying out the decisions of World Conference of Compatriots of 2008 year, realization of Compatriots Assistance Programmes and other important questions of our agenda.
