ABOUT THE MEETING OF GRADUATES
OF SOVIET AND RUSSIAN UNIVERSITIES
LIVING IN MEXICO

November 7th, 2009 the meeting of graduates of Soviet and Russian universities living in Mexico took place at the Centre of Skill Level Rising of the National Polytechnic Institute; it was organized together with Rossotrudnichestvo, compatriots’ association “Sorumex” y Embassy of Russia. There were present Russian compatriots, professors and students studying Russian language, cultural workers and representatives of the Embassy and Mexican intellectuals.

The director of the Institute Ramiro Agillar said that “Russian language and culture is a universal tool for international relations that allow maintaining a successful dialog between two civilizations”. “They permit us to find common, universal methods for solving difficult and ambiguous problems”, he added. The speeches of the head of Russian Culture Academy Mrs.N.Savchenko and Doctor of Philology Mr.L.Flores excited the audience; they made an attempt to evaluate once more the impact of developments of October 1917 on Russian literature, spoke in details about the works of the remarkable poets of the Silver Ages of Russian poetry Alexander Block and Sergey Esenin.

Within the framework of the compatriots’ meeting a painting exhibition of Russian artist A.Naumov was organized. According to his words “the characters of Russian and Mexican culture and history are interlaced” in his works. Furthermore the students of the Russian Embassy School preformed a concert of national dances and patriotic songs. In the end a Russian cuisine tasting took place.
