International Festival of Russian Culture in Queretaro, Mexico

He held meetings with some representatives of political parties and business community and took part in the inauguration of the International Festival of Russian Culture.

The representatives of the State of Queretaro Government were present at the inauguration.

The Director General of the Institute of Culture and Arts of Queretaro, Manuel Naredo, highlighted in his speech: “It is a big honor for us to be the first organizers and hosts of the Festival of Russian Culture. Mexico and Russia have long distance between them, but Culture and Arts unite us. Despite the language barrier, we feel the Russian sole perfectly and we can add our rich history, philosophy and religion to it.”


The Ambassador of Russia in Mexico Valery Morozov noted in his turn, that such festivals must be held regularly. “I think that the organization of the Festival of Russian Culture is a very good initiative. Hope that there will be more of them in future. Our culture is many-sided and so is this festival. During this event Mexican people can get acquainted with photos of Russia, paintings of the best artists, listen to the poems of our best poets, including the translation of Marina Tsvetaeva’s poesy into Spanish language made by Mexican translators Selma Ansira and Francisco Segovia. I think that after the concerts and the acquaintance with the works of Russian writers Mexican people will know the traditions of Russian culture better” – said the Ambassador.

During the Festival was held the promotion of an exhibition called “Three centuries of Russian literature”, that was presented by the works of three known Russian poets and writers of XVII, XIX and ХХ centuries: Alexander Pushkin, Leo Tolstoy and Mikhail Sholokhov.

The Festival continued from October 15th till October 23rd.
