«Chekhov it not simply writer is the phenomenon of world culture». Such words there has begun the performance on a case of opening of Chekhovian festival in Mexico City the chairman of the committee of anniversary celebrations Gilberto Gererro, the director of National school of a theatrical art. All three days that anniversary actions (they proceeded in the Mexican capital passed in the National centre of fine arts - Centro Nacional de Bellas Artes), it was very difficult to believe that here, for thousand kilometers from Russia, hardly uttering unusual for the Spanish language Russian patronymics, local theatrical critics, writers, students and directors can speak with such hobby about tragic element of characters of Anton Pavlovicha, about internal tragedy of their laconic monologues and about ingenious dynamic scenes of Chehov’s plays!
The festival program was very various: here passed round tables and the public readings of articles devoted to creativity of Chekhov, the future actors-students tested in creative competition of drama skill, and known Mexican directors made comments on video display of the Russian and foreign films which have been removed on products of the great writer. Active participation in all actions of festival was accepted the head of Academy of Russian culture "Spark" by Natalia Savchenko and the president of the Mexican association of Russian AMIR Luis Flores.
