Opening ceremony of Honorable Consulate in Acapulco

On October, 2nd, 2009 in Acapulco has taken place solemn opening of the first Honorable Consulate of the Russian Federation in Mexico.
Representatives of the city authorities, local intelligency, businessmen, and employees of the Russian embassy have taken part in the ceremony.
Antonio Rayan Dichter the local Mexican businessman who has Russian origin was appointed as the Honorable Consul of Russia. In the introductory speech he has underlined that he would like to see as much as possible Russian tourists visiting Acapulco and Gerrero state, and also to involve the Russian investments into the region.

During the ceremony the official representative of Gerrero state governor the Minister of tourism Ernesto Rodriguez Eskalona has declared that opening of Honorable Consulate in Acapulco will allow to expand communications between Russia and Mexico not only in sphere of tourism, but also in the field of culture. "Our country has rich traditions, as well as Russia, and I think that expansion of a bilateral exchange will be useful for the development of the Russian-Mexican relations".
The Ambassador of Russia in Mexico Valery I. Morozov has noticed that the Russian side attaches great importance to this event and expects that Consulate work will promote development and strengthening economic, trading and a cultural contact between two countries. «Next year there’ll be 120 years from the moment of an establishment of diplomatic relations between Mexico and Russia, and bilateral cooperation becomes each time more and more wide and diversified.
The fact that we open the first Honorable Consulate in Acapulco is not casual. This city is the important sea and air port on Pacific Ocean. There is no doubt that opening of Honorable Consulate in this city becomes the binding bridge between our countries and the people »- has underlined the Russian diplomat.
During the celebration Valery I. Morozov has presented Rayan Dicher an Anniversary medal "200 years of Consular Service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia".
