The 210th Alexander Pushkin’s Anniversary Celebration in Mexico

June 6th, 2009 the celebration of the 210th anniversary of Alexander Pushkin was held in Mexico together by the Russian Embassy, Rossotrudnichestvo and Russian Compatriots’ Coordination Council in Mexico.

The representatives of the diplomatic corps, Mexican intellectuals, Russian compatriots and some students that are studying Russian language were present at the event that was organized in the Park of Pushkin in Mexico-City. The ceremony began with the imposition of flowers to the Pushkin memorial, its creator is Russian artist Anatoly Bichukov.
The Russian Ambassador in Mexico Mr.Valery Morozov highlighted in his speech that Alexander Pushkin represents a whole era not only in Russian but in the world poetry, his works are the common property of the mankind. He also added that in Mexico live many admirers of the Russian poet’s talent and they celebrate his birthday, too.

The president of the Russian Language Association in Mexico Mrs.Savchenko and the member of the association, doctor of philology Mr.Flores told about the outstanding parts of life and work of one of the most remarkable Russian literati.
As a conclusion the singer Mr.Jadan performed with the romance “Nice little night” and some Mexican students declaimed Pushkin’s poems in Russian and with Spanish translation.
