In national park Shkaret (Kintana-Roo state, Mexico) took place the solemn opening ceremony of the Center of science of researches of language of Maya Yury Knorozov – Centro Knórosov Xcaret de Estudios de la Lengua y Epigrafía Maya.
Yury Knozorov has devoted all life to studying of culture of the people of the Maya — one of the most mysterious civilizations of the Earth. Never seeing personally inscriptions of the Maya, never having visited Mexico, he has managed to make many scientists of the different countries haven't achieved what, years field researches conducting here, — to solve a phonetic code of system of the letter of these people. Its biography full of heartrending experiences, surprising coincidence and paradoxes, completely corresponds to a legendary image of the ingenious person. The great scientist managed to visit the country of the Maya only in 1990 at the age of 68 years.

Center Knorozov is the ambitious project directed on studying and spread of knowledge about culture of the ancient people of the Maya. Realization of all research programs covers the period with 2011 till 2021. Center creation became a result of long cooperation of two higher educational institutions – the Russian state humanitarian university and University of Veracruz (Mexico).
Members of the administrative board of both universities, representatives of the authorities of Kintana-Roo state, prominent representatives of business circles have taken part in opening ceremony of Center Knorozov.
The Russian delegation was headed by the ambassador of the Russian Federation in Mexico Valery Morozov.
